I know Cubase has a score editor, but I'm not too worried about that because I can always use an external score editing program and import midi tracks into whichever DAW I pick. Am I going to lose any specific midi capabilities by picking Reaper over Cubase? Can anyone tell me specifically why? I'm looking at Reaper because of the better price, stability, and not having to use a stupid dongle. My question is: a lot of people say that Cubase is the gold standard for midi sequencing and working with VSTs for midi. Pros and cons: Cubase : Pros: Popular among composers, wide range of basic plugins, good for MIDI editing. I'm mainly going to be using orchestral instrument VSTs (Garritan Personal Orchestra and World Instruments they're not the best sounding, but have an amazing array of samples for a great price). So I'm thinking of buying a DAW to try to get into music production (well, I'm more interested in the composing side of things, really) as a hobby. We'd love to hear what you have produced with Reaper, but please post it in the weekly sticky.
